Compassion

"Compassion costs. It is easy enough to argue, criticize and condemn, but redemption is costly, and comfort draws from the deep. Brains can argue, but it takes heart to comfort."

Ain't that the truth.
Is this from a book your reading? That is one of the more insightful things I've heard in awhile.

Hey Matt,

Hope you are doing well! Yeah, I picked it up from a book called 'The Church Jesus Builds' put out by Wesleyan Headquarters. Each chapter is written by a different author. This was a quotation found within the book. Glad you liked it. It rang very true in mind so I wanted to share.

wow, I hear that! compassion is honestly hard to come by...so tough yet you have a heart that loves seemingly so easily...your compassion flows well

This is very true. "If I have the gift of prophecy, and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, but have not love I am nothing."

Or, for a linguist such as myself, "If I can speak in the languages of HUMANS or of angels . . ."!

Yes, it is harder and more virtuous to identify with someone than to discount or ignore them entirely because you disagree. My professors do the former very well, and so I feel obligated to follow their example.
